Grant Application Opens For Early Education And Childcare Programs: The EEC Capital Grant is offered by the Department of Early Education and Care, which has opened an application to apply for $4 million in funds for early education and childcare programs (EEC program) through the Early Education and Out-of-School Time Capital Funding program.

Early Education and Child Care Program grant applications for nonprofits offering child care and out-of-school programs to acquire, renovate, or expand their classrooms and facilities to develop state-subsidized spaces for children. They can apply for a $50,000 to $1,000,000 grant. Plymouth/Barnstable Local leaders, including State Senator Susan Moran, have addressed the barriers working or low-income families face in finding affordable child care.

Early Education and Care Commissioner Amy Kershaw said EEC capital projects are intended to increase affordability and expand access to high-quality programming for all households in the Commonwealth. This work provides capital opportunities for programs to create updated, child-centred spaces for children to learn and play and for their teachers to work. At least half of the children in each applicant’s Early Education and Childcare Program must be enrolled to receive public subsidies for funding. The last date for the EEC Capital Grant Application is fixed for February 1, 2024.

The EEOST Small Grant is funded via a state capital allocation and matching private investment, building on $14.3 billion in funding for small-scale early education and childcare programs (EEC Grant program) announced by state officials in November.
