Midlands Community Foundation Grant Program
The Midlands Community Foundation awards grants twice annually to non-profit organizations serving Sarpy and Cass counties. The grant deadlines are February 1st and August 1st, 2026.
The Midlands Community Foundation Grant Program has provided non-profit charitable organizations with the opportunity to receive financial assistance for over 30 years. MCF grant programs or projects that enhance and improve the quality of life for Sarpy and Cass Counties residents. In addition, the Foundation has a strong commitment to programs that benefit health, the arts, culture, the community, education, economic development, and human services. The grant is awarded based on the needs of the service area.

Eligibility criteria for Midlands Community Foundation Grant Program
To be eligible for a grant from the Midlands Community Foundation (MCF), an organization must:
Serve within the foundation’s geographic area:
- Provide programs or services specifically in Sarpy and Cass counties in Nebraska.
Be a federally tax-exempt nonprofit organization:
- Qualify as a nonprofit organization with federal tax-exempt status under U.S. Internal Revenue Service regulations (typically IRS 501(c)(3)).
Other Grant Rules: Organizations that have an active (not yet fully disbursed) MCF grant cannot reapply until their final report has been submitted and the previous grant has been closed.

What Types of Requests Are Not Supported:
The Foundation generally does not fund:
- General operating expenses, debt reduction, or administrative overhead costs.
- Direct aid to individuals or families.
- Projects of religious organizations, unless the project is strictly secular and doesn’t give preference to members of the sponsoring religious group.
- Political organizations or political projects.
- Dinners, tickets, or conferences as funding projects.
- Activities that are tax-supported responsibilities of federal, state, or local government.
Required Documents for MCF Grant Program
Supporting documents are crucial for this grant.
- Federal tax exemption letter.
- Financial statement (audited) for the most recent financial year.
- The operating budget for the current year includes the principal source(s) of income.
- Copy of the bye-laws of the organization.
- If applicable, school-based grant requests must submit a written confirmation that the proposed program has been reviewed and accepted by the selected school district.

Guidelines
- If the amount requested is more than $1,000, a grant application must be completed.

- Application review takes approximately 60 days. Grants are awarded twice annually- in April for the February deadline and in October for the August deadline.
- The grant recipient will be required to sign a grant agreement and provide a detailed report on how the funds are spent. He is responsible for arranging proper publicity regarding grants.
- Misuse of funds will result in a recall of the grant and ineligibility for future grant support.
- An organization is limited to one grant application per grant time.
